Not everything you want will be good for you

Not everything I want is worth chasing.

How I use it

Not everything I want is worth chasing. Some things are obviously bad for me, like drinking, smoking, hooking up, or skipping the gym. But sometimes the more dangerous version is when I become deeply committed to something that looks impressive or meaningful without questioning whether it actually comes from me.

Example

This happened with my Polimi master's experience. I wanted it badly, and at one point it was almost not happening. Instead of stepping back and asking whether that might actually be a good thing, I kept pushing until I made it happen. In the end, I was not that glad I did.
